Brief History of the School

The Fountain of Life High School was birthed out of the vision of Mother and Rev. Jerome C. Williams. The two after marriage in the year 2000, began pursuing higher education to prepare them in order to contribute meaningfully to the development of their families, the community and society.

Getting to the level of contributing meaningfully to families, community and society was not an easy journey. The Williams got engaged into several humble economic activities including offering teaching services at various primary and second institutions of learning in Paynesville and its environs. They also got engaged in several petty trade activities, all geared towards reaching the goal of contributing positively to society in any small way possible.

In 2013, following years of teaching in both primary and secondary schools, and witnessing how most students were denied quality education due to the poor economic status of their parents, the dream to establish a learning institution that will create the platform for all students to access education

regardless of the economic situation of their parents was conceived. In pursuant to making the dream a reality, an acre of land was purchased in the Township of Johnsonville, Montserrado County through the provisional grace of God. Towards the end of 2013 and a makeshift structure was put up to begin the work of setting up a school.

Before the end of the year 2013, the Williams opened a tuition free study class for students of the developing community. A total of 44 students enrolled in the study. As result of the academic activities carried out in the study classes, all our enrolled students made excellent passes in their various subjects and later got promotion to the next grade levels.

At the beginning of the 2014 school year, scores of parents whose students had benefited from study class in the makeshift structure, visited the premises and requested that we open a school for their children. We prayed about it and accepted the request.

Praise God for a loan from the Liberia Bank for development and investment which helped us erect the first six rooms for the commencement of full academic activities. The opening of schools came closer for 2014, yet there was still not a name for the institution.

The Williams went into prayers and sought the face of God for an appropriate name for the new institution. Following times of prayers and searches through the pages of scriptures, the Lord finally brought forth the name ‘fountain of Life”

In its first academic year in 2014, the Fountain of Life enrolled 88 students at the Nursery and Kindergarten levels respectively. Due to the Ebola crisis in the Country, the academic year was concluded in early 2015.

In the second academic year in 2015, the school enrolled 150 students. This time a lower and upper elementary section (Gr.1-6) was added.

From 2016, the school began to increase in academic strength and enrolment. Today, the school is a full High school with a total enrolment of 700 students. The school runs five divisions (ECD, Kindergarten, Elementary, Junior, and Senior High) ably managed by five coordinators or supervisors.

The school has a total staff size of 47 persons 75 percent are females and 25% males.

Since its establishment, the school has had four public test experiences with all students making successful pass respectively in 2017, 2018, and 2019 respectively.

Fountain of Life has experienced challenges like any institution, but one thing has helped us overcome our challenges, that’s treating human like humans, and prioritizing the payment of all those who work for the school in a small but dignify fashion. Another way we have managed our challenges is keeping a time of prayer in the face of all doubts and uncertainties.
